The Chihiros Nova 1 is a new LED light from a company which will be unknown to reef aquarium keepers but which has come to mean excellence in another side of the hobby. For several years now Chihiros has been building up a broad rich catalog of LED lights for planted aquariums and a healthy and popular following to go along with it.

The ReefLED 160S is also equipped with a built-in Wi-Fi that allows total control via ReefBeat smart aquarium app (which controls all Red Sea devices). The app includes pre-set lighting programs, along with additional features such as sunrise/sunset effects, lunar cycle moon light, random clouds and even an acclimation program for new installations.

The Photosynthetic Utilized Radiation or PUR that is relevant for optimal Zooxanthellae photosynthesis is between 360- 480 nm which starts outside the range of visible light (measured by PAR meters) in the UV region and continues into the blue part of the visible light range.

The ReefLED 50 provides REEF-SPEC PAR levels of 500 beneath the lens at water surface, to 100 at 50cm / 20’’ depth. It is therefore the smart choice for smaller tanks.

Mounting hardware as previously available for Hydra fixtures will work with the new version lights. The exception is the Hydra Flex arm which will require a different light bracket due to the size difference in the new fixtures. The Flex arm bracket will change with he new fixtures. Older flex arms being used to mount the new lights will need a new light bracket.

The Hydra 32HD has been redesigned making the reef lights more efficient with better aesthetics. The Hydra Lights have been a staple in the reefing community for years and the new Hydra 32HD lights take the same great features and benefits while using more efficient hardware that ultimately gives better light and spread throughout your aquarium.
